Pamela J. Olson, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
I am one of the newest newcomers to the Mereon Team, arriving in 2010. One might well ask me, “Why now?” and “Why you?” The skills I bring with me include those used to do the business of business, ranging from very large to very tiny, with an emphasis on Marketing in diverse settings.
The study of what has become known as Mereon has been underway since 1987. The rest of the answer to the first question begins with advice given to Lynnclaire in 1994 by the Nechung Oracle, advisor to the Dalai Lama, who told her to take this information to the world, starting with scientists. While the task of working with pivotal scientists will never be completed, enough has been accomplished to move onto others of like mind and heart, and into the world at large. Scientific theories have been scrutinized, and proven; and peer-reviewed articles have been published in scientific journals, with more close to completion. So, “Why now?” Because it's time to bring Mereon out from “under the radar” and present the work to a wider audience. My diverse academic and experiential background in business, education and consciousness studies, leave me delighted to answer the “Why me?” question!
Just before joining the Mereon team, I served as the Assistant Director of the Rhine Research Center (RRC), a venerable institution that has applied scientific methods to the study of the paranormal since the 1920’s. Under the auspices of Duke University, in the early years, J.B. and Louisa Rhine and colleagues disproved most of what was claimed, while validating what was authentic. During my tenure I became involved with the study of geometry as it is believed to relate to Consciousness. Soon after, a friend introduced me to the Mereon work because he suspected I would be interested. When I read that one of the principle investigators described Mereon as a candidate for the “Blueprint of Consciousness", I was hooked.
Can you feel the synchronicities building?
My business background is multi-faceted; as an independent advisor to companies and investors, my clients have included e-commerce, software, hardware, artistic, athletic, textiles, medical products, retail and not-for-profit ventures; after a nationwide search, I served as the first Deputy Director of the North Carolina Museum of Art. There is a similarity in my work with the Mereon Team to my job with NCMA; to identify and take the significant steps necessary to escalate visibility and make positive contributions to the world.
Before the NCMA, I worked for Quintiles, then a Fortune 500 company, as Vice President of Global Market Development. Quintiles is the leader in the field of pharmaceutical clinical trials, giving me an opportunity to learn about an industry which was quite new to me. My task there was to focus on future opportunities for Quintiles, advising as to how to determine which opportunities to pursue and how to do it.
In the field of Education, I have taught graduate and undergraduate business courses for the University of Phoenix Online and North Carolina State University, focusing on Entrepreneurial Marketing and Marketing Research. I have also lectured for IBM Worldwide Market Intelligence, the North Carolina Council for Entrepreneurial Development and Duke University. I was Board Treasurer for the Lucy Daniels Center for Center for Early Childhood as well as co-founder of OZReports, an early Internet Marketing Research firm.
For 13 years, I worked for IBM in International Marketing & Finance primarily focused on Networking Hardware and Software. While there, I held technical as well as strategic positions, focused on both the US and European markets. My last position was having the lead financial role for IBM’s then third largest acquisition, a systems management software firm.
Prior to joining IBM, I was Vice President and co-founder of a firm that brokered coal mines and related investments. I received my MBA, in Decision Science & Finance, from the Wharton School; BA in Mathematics from Penn State; and graduate Education studies from Harvard.
Obviously, I have enjoyed many playing fields. I used to wonder if there was any way that they made sense when viewed as a whole. Now I know. It's been a great ride, and amazing preparation for the work with Mereon! The ride just got a whole lot better!
